Sara Nur Yıldız tarihçidir ve uzmanlık alanı Selçuklar, Moğollar ve Osmanlılar zamanındaki geç Orta Çağ Anadolu’sudur. Şu anda İslamlaşma, metin üretimi, bilgi transferi ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nda İslami tıp metinleri geleneği konularında araştırma yapmaktadır.

Sara Nur Yıldız, doktorasını 2006 yılında University of Chicago, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations’da yaptı. 2003–2010 yılları arasında İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi’nde yardımcı doçent olarak çalıştı. 2011–2016 yılları arasında Orient-Institut Istanbul’da araştırmacı idi. Enstitüde “Historicizing the Religious and Intellectual Landscape of Seljuk and Mongol Anatolia” (2011–2012) projesini yönetti ve Orta Çağ Anadolu’sunun dini ve entelektüel haritası üzerine çalıştı. Araştırma görevlisi olarak, Dr. Andrew Peacock (School of History, University of St Andrews, Scotland) ile birlikte “The Islamisation of Anatolia, c. 1100–1500” başlıklı European Research Council projesini yürüttü (2011–2016). Yine Dr. Andrew Peacock ile birlikte “Islamic Literature and Intellectual Life in Fourteenth- and Fifteenth-century Anatolia” (Würzburg 2016) başlıklı yayını hazırladı. 2016/2017’da Anadolu Medeniyetleri Araştırma Merkezi’nde (ANAMED) “The Seljuk Empire of Anatolia” başlıklı proje kapsamında çalıştı. ANAMED’de “Mongol Rule in Seljuk Anatolia: the Politics of Conquest and History Writing, 1243–1282” başlıklı çalışmasını tamamladı ve 2017 yılında yayımladı. Şu anda “The Seljuks of Anatolia: Empire-Building on the Frontiers of the Muslim World” başlıklı monografi üzerinde çalışıyor. 2018’den bu yana Berlin’deki Max Planck Institute for the History of Science’de „Empire, Nature and Pharmacology in the Ottoman World, 1400–1800“ projesi üzerinde calışıyor.
